June 2018 - Global Film & TV Industry Returns to Birmingham
The Producers’ Forum in partnership with West Midlands Screen Bureau with support of Film Birmingham
Film 4 is just one of many companies who will be returning to the annual Birmingham Film & TV Marketplace, taking place on 25 October at Resorts World at the NEC. Mark Vennis of Moviehouse Entertainment called it , "A really good event...filmmakers were switched on, making for a high hit rate,” and Ben Coren of Film 4 said of last year’s event: “A very useful day.”
The day brings together financiers, sales agents and distributors from the world of feature film and high-end TV drama to meet producers, directors and scriptwriters with their feature length or TV projects. We can already announce Film 4, Artemisia, Iron Box, Bankside Films and Spier Films will be attending and there will be further announcements in the coming weeks. In the past BBC Films, the BFI, Lionsgate, and Creative England and a host of others have attended. There will be an exciting line up of 10 to 12 companies this year. Whether you are looking for help with production, finance, sales or distribution, you should be able to meet people who can provide that support. As Lee Kemp of Vermillion Films remarked, “A producer spends so much time look for opportunities to pitch to the right people, and here The Producers’ Forum present the right people looking for people to pitch to them. A brilliant, educational and fruitful day."
The event has become a must in the creative calendar for those who are seeking to find ways to further their projects and for the industry to discover new talent and exciting ideas. In 2015, Emma Berkofsky of Lionsgate agreed that these events are valuable to the industry and explained, "We get to meet new people and hear about different projects."
The Producers' Forum is very proud to have been able to develop the marketplace which is now in its sixth year. CEO Pip Piper says, "An event like this rarely happen outside of major festivals and it really helps to put Birmingham and wider region on the map."
