Back In

Back In is a flagship programme investing in Birmingham’s future black filmmakers. Run by Punch Records they "want to reach creative talent from across the city regions diverse communities and vibrant neighbourhoods and support them through a 6 month training & commissioning programme."

They are inviting applications from individuals or companies that want to gain practical real life training and experience around the following areas

  1. Networks around new funds and commissions
  2. Budgeting and planning
  3. Pitching (format and methodology)
  4. Trips to film venues and Independent festivals
  5. Technical guidance and grading
  6. One to one discourse with Film Production CEO’s
  7. Conference on Black Filmmakers
  8. Small film commission

It’s a detailed 6 month programme that needs a minimum of 2 days per month.
Application is by on-line form, which is available in other formats, ask the Punch team. They especially welcome applications from those outside of regular employment, training and formal education, including those on zero hour contracts or ad hoc freelance work.

Back In  is a professional development programme, so does not offer any fees payments to participants. However,  they will cover reasonable travel and provide food during trips to other cities.
