As I battle with various challenges around my own projects and those of the Producers' Forum, it strikes me that a producer has to have a number of personality attributes in order to survive this amazing yet tough industry.

You have to be flexible and resilient and be prepared to be rejected 99 times out of every 100. Therefore you need a great sense of humour but also the sensitivity to know how to handle all manner of business people and creatives. Therefore you have to be highly emotionally intelligent and know which battles are worth fighting. Therefore you have to be able to fight for yours and others existence and support that with a personal and project income. Therefore you have to be flexible and resilient and so on!! But who can describe the joy when you see a film you have been involved in show to a public audience for the first time and you hear and see the engagement, excitement and reaction? That's why I do it and to tell great stories and work with great people.
